Fabulous February Fringe Festival Returns

West County Arts & Culture, a new initiative of the Greater Shelburne Falls Area Business Association, announces the Second Annual Fabulous February Fringe Festival, February 9 -11, 2018, in Shelburne Falls and a “warm up” festival the weekend before in Ashfield.

The Fringe Festival programming includes the second annual International Women’s Film Festival presenting short films written and/or directed by women, workshops, performance, and the return of the Shad Ladder Radio Hour, a live radio show that had its inaugural performance at the first Fabulous Fringe last year.

We are excited to announce a new collaboration! The weekend before the Fringe, on Saturday February 3rd, the Ashfield FilmFest and Elmer's will host a filmmaking workshop and audience favorite films from the first women's film festival. The workshop will be presented by Jon Huberth, who has produced and directed over 200 videos for colleges and non-profits. Jon will talk about how to create a video with a story, concept, and purpose to effectively reach the audience you want to reach with the message you want to tell. Jon will show three short videos and describe how each was conceived and executed.

PLUS! New this year!  An Expanded Fringe Festival!!  Presenting new and/or original entertainment!  We’re excited to feature the Shad Ladder Radio Hour as our headliner on Saturday night and, to lead up to the Shad, we invite local artists’ proposals for their own Fringe Performance.

Proposals for original live performance offerings are currently being accepted for performances Saturday, February 10 and/or Sunday, February 11.  Please send proposals for 5 – 20-minute long performances of new and/or original work to info@shelburnefalls.com.  Include technical requirements (few to none is best!), a brief synopsis of your performance, short bio of lead artist(s), and contact information.  Applicants will be contacted in early January.

Finally, if you’d like to get involved in planning this event, please contact Carmela at carmela@shelburnefalls.com.

Thanks to the Massachusetts Cultural Council for their support!
