“My Favorite Things,” Gala Anniversary Concert, will take place at Buckland Elementary School, 75 Mechanic Street, Shelburne Falls at 6:30 pm, and features guest dancer Sarah Jane Duax, one of the original New Orleans Ballet Renversé artists. Also featured are Shelly Roberts, soprano, signing the program’s theme song, “My favorite Things” and other selections; the Marlboro Morris Men, touring folk dance troupe; Cynthia James, Isadora Duncan dancer and director; and Ballet Renverse dancers, ages 5-50+

The Gala is free and open to the public. Donations are accepted and a fundraising Teacup Auction, with lovely items donated by local businesses, accompanies the event.

The Gala is the culmination of “A Festival of Dance, A Celebration of Community,” comprised of events held throughout the spring, which celebrates the accomplishments of Ballet Renversé and its involvement with the community. Events and activities have included collaboration with Piti Theatre, an adult dance workshop in Isadora Duncan dancing, and an in-school residency at Buckland Shelburne Elementary School with guest artist Kate Pousont Scarborough.

The Gala is supported in part by a grant from The James D. Watt Charitable Fund at the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts.

The Gala and springtime events that have been part of “A Festival of Dance, A Celebration of Community” were also supported, in part, by grants from the Cultural Councils of the towns of Buckland, Colrain, and Shelburne, local agencies which are supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

Ballet Renversé members, local business sponsors, Teacup Auction donors, Buckland Shelburne Elementary School, and the Mary Lyon Foundation have all provided important financial or in-kind support.
