In 2014 the Franklin County CDC received a grant for $56,000 to establish collaborations with business associations and strengthen the business community to prepare, promote and sustain efforts that attract tourist year round building on leveraging existing successful activities by celebrating the 100th year of the world famous Mohawk Trail to develop stronger businesses and more vibrant communities.
Partnering with the Mohawk Trail Association (whose region covers central to western ma) and leveraging the 100th Anniversary will include: North Quabbin Chamber of Commerce, North Quabbin Woods, Franklin County Chamber of Commerce, Northfield Business Association, Montague Business Association, Greenfield Business Association, Greater Shelburne Falls Area Business Association, North Adams Visitor’s Center, North Adams Chamber of Commerce and the Williamstown Chamber of Commerce. The staff of these groups, their memberships and non-members will learn more how to benefit from this project through the website, public relations strategy and trainings. A significant benefit is for small businesses to be prepared to maximize the efforts of the regional organizations to build sustaining businesses. The outcome will increase sales, sales tax, meals tax, and secure new and existing jobs through seasonal fluctuations.
