Shelburne Falls in winterHappy Winter!

2016 promises to bring a lot of exciting changes to the GSFABA—check out the new offerings in this bulletin and also know that we're adding a new staff member in the near future to help us better serve you, our valued members.

You'll be contacted in the not-too-distant future and asked to participate in a member survey we've created to find out more about you, your business, and how we can better serve you and build our local economy.

Reservations for our popular place map will be coming your way soon, too, so keep an eye out for that.

Please don't hesitate to contact me with questions, concerns, or—best of all—ideas!

Hope the new year brings you prosperity and joy!

Carmela Lanza-Weil
Executive Director

Here's the first look at upcoming events brought to you by the GSFABA.

New this year!

  • Hilltown Arts: Thriving Community Happenings (HATCH) is a new pilot program designed in collaboration with The Art Garden, a community arts center located in Buckland, MA. A three-part process will support the development, refinement, and launching of arts projects brought forward by artists and other community members culminating with a community-wide event! Workshop dates are April 25, May 8, and May 18, 2016. We'll be posting more information about this project soon!

Piti Theatre Company's "Olde Coleraine" to offer a journey into the past for all ages this spring!

The founders of Shelburne's Piti Theatre Company, Godeliève Richard and Jonathan Mirin, are cooking up a special treat for this spring's 7th Annual SYRUP: One Sweet Performing Arts Festival at Memorial Hall on March 20th. They are creating a new show called "Olde Coleraine: A Musical Hilltown History" with musician-in-residence Carrie Ferguson. One of the themes of the show is the transition at the turn of the last century from an agricultural to an industrial economy—"farm children" became "mill children" as many young people worked with their families in local mills.

Piti is offering a new weekly class to prepare a group of local children ages 7-12 to perform with them in the show on Thursdays at Shelburne Falls Yoga, starting January 21 from 4:00-5:15. Adults, teens, and younger children who would like to participate as actors or in other ways are also encouraged to get in touch. More about this and other Piti winter-spring classes here, or call (413) 625-6569 or email jonathan@ptco.org.

Ballet Renversé seeks an intern for 2-3 hours per week to assist the artistic director with administration, fundraising, social media, and graphic design. Maturity, consistency, and interest in the performing arts are essential, as are excellent computer skills. Attendance at bi-monthly board meetings, usually on a Wednesday evening, is also required. A small stipend is available. Please call 413-625-6442 if you're interested.
